Communities of Practice – Blended and Online Learning
A communities of practice for blended and online learning has been established at Curtin Malaysia with the following objectives
Objectives of the Project
- Develop a deeper understanding of the needs of online learners, the challenges of remote learning, and the theories and practices. Increase knowledge of the various types of interaction in online learning. Appreciate how online students can be supported, and how the design of online content can be optimised to engage and motivate them, and encourage interaction.
- Teaching presence is the design, facilitation, and direction of cognitive and social processes toward the goal of meaningful and educationally worthwhile learning outcomes.
- Social presence is the ability of participants to identify with the group, communicate in a trusting environment, and develop social relationships by way of expressing their individuality.
- Cognitive presence is the exploration, construction, resolution, and confirmation of understanding.
